The Ways of Water

Bliss Zone Energy Medicine

Have you ever noticed how moving water finds its way regardless of the obstacles in its path?  I love to sit and watch and listen to water in nature.  It goes over, it goes under, it smooths sharp edges, it carves new paths, it flows until it reaches its destination.  It’s ultimately unstoppable.

I find ocean water can be hypnotic, babbling water can be soothing, and raging water evokes fear.  Water engages our senses at a primal level.  It’s necessary for our very survival.

Water is one of the five elements (also known as the five rhythms) that were first described over 5,000 years ago by Chinese physicians. In the five-rhythm energy system (water, wood, fire, earth, and metal), the water rhythm corresponds to winter.  The emotional themes associated with water are fear and hope.

When your water rhythm is out of balance you may find yourself in a state of fear or hopelessness.  You may have a sense of wasting away – of not being able to get things into motion.  Or you may waste energy by quick, impulsive starts that you’re not prepared to see through to completion.

But when your water rhythm is in balance, fear and hopelessness are replaced with hope and new beginnings.  You are able to skillfully navigate life’s twists and turns as you set course for new destinations.  You flourish.

Are you stuck in a state of fear and hopelessness?  Does it seem like life is impossible for  you?  Are you afraid to take steps to move to the destination of your dreams?  Do you let perceived obstacles derail your intentions?

With simple, non-invasive energy medicine practices a rhythm that is out of balance can be rebalanced in a matter of minutes.  And there is simple self-care that you can do to keep your water rhythm in balance.

Is it time to get your rhythms tested?  Is it time to shed your fear and hopelessness and flow towards your desired destination?
