Chakra 3:
Your Charging Station

Introduction to Chakras

The Chakra System is one of nine energy systems in the subtle energy body.

First described thousands of years ago by yogis in what is now India, chakras are spinning energy wheels or discs.  There are seven major chakras located along the central axis of the physical body, the spine.  They stretch from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.

These seven chakras correspond with physical, mental, and emotional stages of human development.  As they spin, fresh energy is brought into the body and stagnant energy is removed.  Chakras also function as energy processing plants.  They carry information about your personal life journey as well as your ancestral story.  They support and govern the functioning of your physical body and the organs that lie in their energetic field.

This series of blogs focuses on these seven major chakras – one at a time.

The Solar Plexus Chakra

The third chakra is your personal power chakra.  Also known as the Solar Plexus Chakra, it sits in the mid torso area of your body.   Its sphere of influence includes ribs, adrenal glands, kidneys, pancreas, liver, spleen, belly, and digestive organs.  This chakra is the energetic force that maintains your individual identity and personal ego.

Ego and identity themes associated with the third chakra include:  Who am I; What do others think of me; What is required of me; What do I want; How do I get what I want?  Properties of the Solar Plexus Chakra involve logic, structure, responsibility, and discernment.  It is associated with heat, strength, power, and aliveness.

A third chakra with too much energy might manifest itself with behaviors that are dominating, aggressive, and controlling.  You might be the person who always needs to be right and have the last word.  Excessive energy in this chakra may lead you to be manipulative and engage in deceitful behaviors.  You might exhibit violent outbursts, stubbornness, driving ambition, arrogance.

If your third chakra is underactive, you might have low energy levels, poor self-discipline, low self-esteem, or emotional and physical coldness.  You might have a victim mentality, poor digestion, and chronic fatigue.  You might be passive and unreliable.

But when your Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced you have mastery.  You are proactive, confident, playful, and able to meet challenges.  You have appropriate self-discipline, good self-esteem, and a sense of your personal power.  You are responsible and reliable.

Does this resonate with you?  Are you that person?  Do you have a need to always be right?  Are you manipulating others to get your way?  Are you stubborn?  Are you always tired?  Has your self-esteem taken a hit lately?  Are you a victim of life circumstances?

If so, perhaps it’s time to get your Chakra System tested.  A chakra that is unbalanced can be rebalanced in a matter of minutes.  Don’t you want to master your life journey?  Meet life challenges with ease and confidence?  Step into your personal power?
